Donovan travels to New Orleans for alternative spring break
BOSTON — During the week of March 8, Colleen Donovan of Auburn participated in Emmanuel College’s annual Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans, La.
ASB a week-long service trip held during the College’s traditional spring break that bridges volunteer work with education and reflection on larger social issues.
The New Orleans group continues to focus on rebuilding a city still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. On this trip, Emmanuel volunteers worked on destroyed homes with the St. Bernard Project (SBP), served with the New Orleans Mission, and had the opportunity to learn more about New Orleans history and culture.
Colby Gail awarded NESCAC All-Academic honors
LEWISTON — Colby Gail, a member of the Women’s Indoor Track and Field team at Bates College, received New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic distinction for the winter 2015 season.
To receive NESCAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.
Gail, the daughter of Dr. Aubrey C. Gail and Ms. Elizabeth E. Baldwin of Topsham, is a 2011 graduate of Mount Ararat High School. She majors in rhetoric and American cultural studies at Bates.
Auburn native studies abroad as part of Union College program
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Melissa Ulin, of Auburn, is studying abroad this spring as part of a Union College international program.
Ulin, who is majoring in Psychology and a member of the Class of 2016, is in Florence, Italy, studying the Italian language and Renaissance architecture.
Auburn Native Lexi Clavet Participates in Leadership Academy
ITHACA, N.Y. — Lexi Clavet, a sophomore Environmental Studies major in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College and member of the women’s track and field team, is learning leadership skills in Ithaca College’s Leadership Academy, the nation’s premier Division III sports leadership development program.
The Leadership Academy, led by associate professor Greg Shelley, instills traits and philosophies applicable in sport participation as well as professional and personal endeavors.
Approximately 300 student-athletes representing all 27 varsity sports are participating in the program.
Clavet will receive special recognition upon completion of the program and undergo personal development applicable after graduation from Ithaca College.

CASTLETON, Vt. — Castleton student Dalton-Jesse Cummins of Winthrop was recently named a Castleton Community Advisor for the 2015-16 academic year.
Castleton Community Advisors are an integral part of the Residence Life Department who have the most direct and constant contact with students. CA’s are assigned to a floor or house of 16-50 students and their primary responsibility is to act as a facilitator of community and enhance the on-campus living experience for their peers.

Lewiston Native Joy Harrington inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society
EASTON, Mass. — Lewiston native Joy Harrington was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society which recognizes academic excellence in the study of sociological theories and research methodologies, as well as the application of this knowledge to understanding social problems and social justice.
Harrington is a member of the Class of 2016.
Emmanuel’s Donovan recognized during annual athletics banquet
BOSTON — Colleen Donovan of Auburn was among student-athletes from 16 varsity sports and the dance team honored for accomplishments on and off the field during Emmanuel College’s annual Athletics Banquet on Saturday, April 25.
Donovan earned the Coach’s Appreciation Award for Women’s Indoor Track and Field. This award is given annually to a student-athlete who has exhibited an excellent attitude, the will to win and dedication to his or her team. Donovan is also a member of the Women’s Cross Country team, who were awarded this year’s President’s Cup. The President’s Cup is given annually to each member of the athletic team who, together, have accumulated a grade point average higher than that of any other team during the first semester of the current academic year.
Local Residents inducted into Psi Chi Honor Society at Stonehill College
EASTON, Mass. — Two local residents were recently inducted into the Psi Chi Honor Society at Stonehill College.
The residents are Ashley DeBlois of Auburn and Mckayla Eskilson of Raymond.
The purpose of Psi Chi is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship and to advance the science of Psychology.
