WALDOBORO (AP) — A former employee of a popular Maine diner has filed a federal lawsuit in which she claims her employer discriminated against her for not following his religious beliefs.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1GOCicn ) reported that Alinna Diaz was an employee of Moody’s Diner on U.S. Route 1 in Waldoboro when she began dating the son of her boss, Dan Beck.

Diaz says in the suit that Beck, a devout Presbyterian, did not approve of the relationship and she was told she could not date Beck’s son until “she knew where she stood with God.”

Robert Brooks, an attorney representing Moody’s, did not return a call for comment.

Diaz previously filed a complaint with the Maine Human Rights Commission, which ruled there were “reasonable grounds to believe that unlawful discrimination occurred.”
