1924 – 2015

AUBURN — Jeanne Starkey, 90, a resident of 20 Great Falls Plaza in Auburn, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 6, at the Hospice House, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on July 27, 1924, the daughter of Antonio and Germaine (Lavigne) Lamarre Sr. She married Ralph Starkey on May 20, 1946, and he died June 25, 1983.

Jeanne was employed for many years in the local shoe industry until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of the VFW Post 1603 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as post and district past president of the Auxiliary. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 31 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Davidhizar and husband, Chuck, of Indiana; a brother, Tony Lamarre and wife, Helene, of Woodridge, Ill.; a son-in-law, Rene Saindon and wife, Corinne, of Lewiston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Saindon, who died in 1987.
