AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union’s Doll Tea is fast approaching. Started in 2001, this year marks a 15-year milestone for this annual fundraiser. The event raises money for scholarships awarded to area high school seniors pursuing further study in arts and literature.

Themed “A Storybook Tea,” the event is an opportunity for girls, their friends and special adults in their lives to “take tea” with their favorite dolls at the elegant Horatio and Ella Foss Mansion, 19 Elm St, Auburn. The nationally registered historic home will be decorated with characters from the pages of Hans Christian Anderson, Mother Goose, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and other favorite stories from childhood.

Every tea attendee is encouraged to bring her favorite doll to this special afternoon. Dressing as a storybook character is also encouraged. In addition to tea served with sweets and savories, and the presentation of a fairy tale, the tea also offers a doll boutique with doll clothes for sale, specially handmade for the 18″ doll. Also at the tea is a raffle table with several doll related items, including costumes for 18″ dolls, an 18” doll (‘Elsa’ from Frozen), a handmade 18″ doll bunk bed, tea sets, an 18″ doll’s horse, and more.

Tickets for the tea are $10 and reservations are required. Tickets may be purchased online from Brown Paper Tickets by going to womansliteraryunion.brownpapertickets.com. The dates of the tea are Saturday, May 30 and Sunday May 31. Seating is limited, and sessions are filling up quickly.
