Twelve volunteers at the Dempsey Center were presented with the Governor’s Award for Service and Volunteerism at a recent Volunteer Recognition celebration. Volunteers give their time to the Dempsey Center through the creation of handmade comfort items, helping with center operations, volunteering for the annual Dempsey Challenge and performing countless other duties every day. Recipients were, from left, Pat Rand, Phyllis Benoit, Nancy Muir, Connie Lagrange, Priscilla Agurkis, Holly Boom, and, not pictured, Wanda Brown, Marilyn Businelli, Betty Lane, Jeannette MacDonald, Phyllis Walder and Sandy Bechard. The award is presented each year to volunteers for their “exemplary work as Maine’s most dedicated citizens,” according to VolunteerMaine.org. FMI: 207-795-8250, [email protected].
