Lucile Fink Weymouth

1929-2015

Lucile Fink Weymouth died on May 14, 2015 as a result of complications stemming from her four-year battle with dementia.

She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on March 17, 1929 the daughter of Beauford Wallace Fink of Bloomfield, Missouri and Idella Virginia Duvall of St. Margarets, Maryland. She attended numerous schools in the United States, having to move frequently as the daughter of a naval officer. In 1945 she commenced study at Randolph Macon Womans College in Lynchburg, Virginia from which she graduated in 1950 with a degree in Spanish.

She was an avid accomplished bridge player and never turned down an invitation to play. She was a member of several local bridge groups and was noted for her determination to play by the rules but also to play for the fun of the game. Lucile loved to cook and was recognized as one of the best among her family and friends. This became apparent at her frequent parties which were always done with attention to detail and always in accordance with proper manners and presentation.

During her college years she frequently attended college football games at one of which she met her husband-to-be. On Sept. 16, 1950 she married Ensign Burton Weymouth in Arlington, Virginia and they commenced their navy life together, moving frequently in accordance with navy orders to stations all over the world.

She loved the game of golf and was able to play many foreign courses as well as many beautiful courses in the United States. She was good at the game and scored a hole-in-one in her later years.

She was a member of a local Red Hats group and always looked forward to their monthly meetings. Usually in August the group often met at her home in Freeman where the ladies could regale in the midst of good food and conviviality.

She was active in the Episcopal Church and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley, Maine. Over the years she served on numerous church committees and enjoyed services at many American churches as well as some in Canada and Europe.

She is survived by her husband and their two children, Diane of Norfolk, Virginia and son Douglas, also of Norfolk. Her grandson, Andrew and three great-grand-daughters live in Hendersonville, NC. Her older sister, Peggy, lives in San Angelo, Texas.

A memorial service for Lucile will take place later this summer at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley, Maine.
