Libby Marcus is presenting two brief one-act plays by Samuel Beckett — “Act Without Words I” and “Come And Go” – – performed with hand-made marionettes on Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27 at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater, 517 Forest Ave. Both plays are serio-comic meditations on life with mature themes and are not recommended for children under 12. “Act Without Words I” (seen above) features a man in a desert contending with off-stage forces that enter and exit without explanation and tease him with the promise of comfort always just out of reach. “Come And Go” is a quiet, enigmatic knot of language and memory in which three old friends sit on a bench and reflect on their conjoined existence. There are no reservations and tickets are “pay what you want,” with a suggested donation of $10. FMI call 207-772-9924.
