LEWISTON – Celebrating their 81st consecutive season of barnstorming across the United States, the world famous Harlem Globetrotters will bring their 2007 “Nothing Like It” world tour to the Colisee Thursday, March 29.

The Globetrotters – known for their amazing ball-handling, comedy routines and efforts as ambassadors of goodwill – will take the court against the New York Nationals.

Tip-off is at 7 p.m. As is tradition with the Globetrotters, there will be an autograph session at the end of the game when fans can interact with their favorite players.

Tickets, starting at $16, are available at the Colisee box office, by calling 877-GO-TIX-GO; and online at www.thecolisee.com. To purchase group or Scout tickets, visit www.harlemglobetrotters.com for more information.

“The Globetrotters 2007 World Tour features the team’s strongest roster to date in terms of athleticism, skill and personality. There will be nothing like the Globetrotters’ game in Lewiston,” said Globetrotter Chairman Mannie Jackson.

Pulling traditional Globetrotter antics March 29 will be Eugene Edgerson, an advance ambassador for the tour, whose work ethic, personality and energy have made him a favorite among his teammates and with fans.

Entering his fourth season with the Globetrotters, Edgerson was part of a December 2006 tour of the Middle East, visiting 12 U.S. military bases in five countries, including Iraq. In December 2003, he was one of four players to announce the team’s new Character Education program, “C.H.E.E.R. for Character.” The interactive program focuses on these character traits: Cooperation, Healthy Mind & Body, Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility.

Edgerson became the first Arizona player to appear in two Final Fours (1997 & 2001), helping the Wildcats to post a 15-4 record in NCAA Tournament games and capture the 1997 NCAA Championship. As a freshman in the 1997 Final Four, he pulled down 16 rebounds, nine against North Carolina in the semis and seven against Kentucky in the title game. He red-shirted in 1999-00 so he could complete his degree in elementary education and obtain a teaching certificate in four years.

One of four children, Edgerson was introduced to basketball at age 8. He was the Times Picayune Player of the Year at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, where he won a state championship.

Edgerson hopes his travels as a Harlem Globetrotter will someday take him to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, a city he has always wanted to visit.

Since their inception in 1926, the Harlem Globetrotters have traveled to 118 nations, won championships and donated money and merchandise to hundreds of charities every year. In 2002, the organization was only the fifth team to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame; followed by an induction into the Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame and the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
