Carthage resident WPI’s spring 2015 dean’s list

WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester Polytechnic Institute has announced that Ryanne Dailey, of Carthage, a sophomore chemical engineering major, was named to the university’s dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2015 semester.

A total of 1,166 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI’s spring 2015 dean’s list. The criteria for the WPI dean’s list differ from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute GPA. Instead, WPI defines the dean’s list by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

Health career scholarship awards announced

FARMINGTON — The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Committee has announced six recipients of the West Central Maine Health Careers Scholarship Program. The scholarships are presented to students residing in the Franklin Memorial Hospital service area who are pursuing careers in the health care field.

Each of the following will be awarded a $600 scholarship from the auxiliary upon successful completion of their first or next semester. They include:

Jennifer Nichols, of Jay, who attends Liberty University for nursing; Molly Geisser, of Industry, who attends University of Maine Augusta for nursing; Sydney Caldwell, of Farmington, who will attend Kennebec Valley Community College for nursing; Althea Mae Drummond, of Livermore Falls, who attends Husson University for nursing; Taylor Hargreaves, of Lexington Township, who will attend University of Southern Maine for nursing; and Rachelle Bator, of Farmington, who will attend UMass Dartmouth for nursing.

Keene State student Chelsea Deroehn earns a spot on the college’s dean’s list

KEENE, N.H. — Chelsea Deroehn, of Rumford, was recently named to the spring 2015 dean’s list at Keene State College. Deroehn was among 1,411 students who were honored for academic excellence in the spring 2015 semester.

To qualify for the dean’s list, Keene State undergraduates must be enrolled in a degree program and must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. Students must achieve a 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale to earn dean’s list honors.

Connecticut College graduates Class of 2015

NEW LONDON, Conn. — More than 450 students from the Class of 2015, representing nearly three dozen countries, crossed the stage on Tempel Green to receive their diplomas from Connecticut College President Katherine Bergeron.

Among the students were Ashley Elizabeth Swan, of Bethel, who received a B.A. in behavioral neuroscience.

Caitlin Douglass graduates from Champlain College

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Caitlin Douglass, of Farmington, graduated from Champlain College on May 9.

Two Mount Abram High School students receive Plum Creek Scholarships

BINGHAM – Plum Creek announced it has awarded scholarships to two Mount Abram High School seniors. Plum Creek annually awards scholarships to exemplary high school students who plan to continue their education after graduation. Students are recognized based on their academic achievements, participation in school and community activities and overall achievement in their high school careers.

Local recipients are Reilly Romanoski and McKenzie Tyler.

Romanoski plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to pursue a degree in biological engineering. In high school, she was senior class president, a member of National Honor Society, captain of the Nordic ski team and president of French club. Romanoski is valedictorian of her class and received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award. She is the daughter of Vern and Diana Romanoski.

Tyler plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to pursue a degree in chemical engineering. In high school, she was captain of the varsity soccer team, varsity softball team and Alpine ski team. Tyler was also named Woman Alpine Skier of the Year. She is the daughter of James and Paula Tyler.

Plum Creek’s community scholarships have been offered in selected operating states since 2007. This year, Plum Creek awarded 148 scholarships totaling $264,000 to high school seniors around the country. In Maine, six students were awarded 2015 Plum Creek scholarships totaling $6,000.
