LIVERMORE — Saturday found 17 teams competing against one another in the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce’s 8th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament.
Chamber treasurer Paul Soucie said Monday morning the event grossed about $8,500. While expenses need to be deducted, there will still be a significant addition made to the Chamber’s Scholarship Fund.
The tournament was held at Maple Lane Golf Course in Livermore. Before the tournament began, participant Gus Grondin said, “The course is in nice shape, it’s beautiful.”
Soucie thanked everyone for participating, especially the sponsors, who helped raise money for future scholarship awards. Raffle and 50-50 tickets were sold to further augment the scholarship fund. A pig roast was planned for later in the day when raffle and tournament winners would be announced.
Fairly quickly into the tournament, two people had successfully putted a hole in one. A putt off was held later to determine the winner. Jim Henry with the Livermore Concrete team won the putt off. For his efforts, Henry won a $60 gift certificate to LaFleurs Restaurant.
