“In some cites and towns,” says a Lewiston woman, “community sings are being held greatly to the pleasure of the people and the thought comes to me, why not have community sings in Lewiston? If the Philharmonic Society or the Festival chorus, any church choir, or other musical organization would take hold of such a movement, it seems to me the result would be delightful. My Idea would be to have the undertaking managed by one of these societies. The Auburn Business Development Corp. recently sponsored a walking tour of the Auburn riverfront. The tour offered the opportunity for members of the community to discover how the current riverfront improvements have been accomplished, as well as what plans the city is contemplating. According to Glen Cooper, chairman of the ABDC’s Program Committee, “With all the current discussions and concerns regarding the riverfront, we felt that we should offer the opportunity for community members to discover the marvelous plans that are in store for the area, as well as provide an awareness for the strides that have already been made.” Members of the tour gathered at the historical Knight House, and then proceeded to West Pitch Park.
