In his June 35 column, “Considering the pope, the globe and the facts,” Cal Thomas blithely assumes the pontifical role for himself.
Among his sources of “fact” is (one of his favorites) climatedepot.com, the blog of Marc Morano. One does well to check Morano’s credentials. He is an employee of the Committee for a Constructive Future Tomorrow, a group substantially funded by, among others, ExxonMobil. He is a well-known conservative global warming denier and former environmental communications director for Sen James Inhofe of Oklahoma.
Inhofe is a long-time climate hoax believer who counters climate science with a combination of selective statistics, childish outrage and the Bible. His BA is in economics, which clearly instructed him in where money comes from and is to be used, with over a million dollars in campaign contributions from fossil fuel interests.
Authoritative science is the last thing Inhofe, climatedepot, or Cal Thomas are interested in.
He would like to cast the consensus of science as “Chicken Little fantasies,” when instead he provides us with a descriptor for his own conservative thought process.
