Reginald Parker Watson
1957-2015
Reginald Parker Watson, 57, of Chesterville passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
He was born Oct. 25, 1957 in Farmington the son of Irvin and Maxine Watson. He was a graduate of Mt. Blue High School and went on to work at Bass Shoe where he met his companion Jolene Gatchell. They worked there until Bass Shoe closed. Reginald then went on to work at Verso Paper where he worked until his passing. He was a member of the American Vets in Jay. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, four wheeling, and spending time with his friends, family, and dogs.
Reginald is survived by his companion of 27 years Jolene Gatchell; his daughter Allison Watson and her companion Brittany Berkey of Jay; his dog Storm; his sister Catherine Davis and husband Richard of New Sharon; his brother William F. Hiscock and his wife Hazel of Glenburn; four grand dogs Zues, Cali, Buddy, and Lady; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Irvin Watson and Maxine E. Whittier Hiscock Watson.

Alberta L. (Smith) Galusha
1921-2015
Alberta L. (Smith) Galusha, 94, a longtime resident of Franklin Rd. in Jay, died Saturday, July 4th 2015 at Rumford Hospital where she had been a patient for five days.
Alberta was born May 12, 1921 in Jay, a daughter of Parke F. and Myra M. (Foley) Smith. She graduated form Jay high school and married Paul Galusha in 1940 in Portland, Maine. Alberta worked many years at Norwalk Shoe in North Jay and she was a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jay.
She is survived by many special nieces and nephews.

GALUSHA — died, July 4, 2015, at Rumford, Alberta L. Galusha, 94, (formerly) of Jay. Arlene R. (Norton) Zabierek
1922-2015
Arlene R. (Norton) Zabierek, 93, of Wilton, formerly of Lewiston, died peacefully at her home, in the loving care of her family, Saturday afternoon, July 4, 2015, of natural causes.
She was born March 30, 1922, in Bridgton, Maine, a daughter of E. Gordon and Mildred P. (Dolloff) Richardson. She received her education in local schools and worked in factories and shoe shops in the greater Lewiston area.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls for many years and was a Life Member and a Past Matron of the O.E.S., serving as secretary for 30 years. She was also a Life member and Past Worthy High Priestess of the Rugged Cross White Shine, serving as treasurer for 19 years and was a Life member and Past Grand Royal Matron and Past Grand Secretary of the Amaranth. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, AROK Temple and was a member of several square dance clubs through Western Maine.
Arlene was a fan and devoted member of Red Sox Nation; David Ortiz was her favorite. She was not one to be idle and enjoyed knitting and crocheting when not playing Rummy or Skip-Bo with family and friends. In the evening, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Although she lead a busy, active life, her most precious time was the time which she shared in the company of her family.
She is survived by a son, Gordon L. Norton and his wife, Gloria of Wilton; two daughters; Carol A. Pillsbury and her companion, Oral Tibbetts of Jay; and Nancy L. Kelley and her husband, John, of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, Ralph Norton in 1987 and Adam Zabierek in 1996; two daughters: Jessie Carter and Mary Norton and two great-grandchildren: Dakota Maberry and Scott Maberry, Jr.

Jeffrey R. Pepin II
1997-2015
Jeffrey R. Pepin, II, 17, a resident of Chesterville, died on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Maine Medical in Portland after he was transported by Lifeflight from Maine General in Augusta, following a swimming accident.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1997, in Lewiston, the son of Katherine T. Goudreau and Jeffrey R. Pepin I.
Jeff had just finished his junior year of high school and had started summer football practice for his upcoming senior year at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington. He had always participated in sports, baseball being a favorite.
Jeffrey also loved fishing and hunting. He spent time doing so with his Dad, his uncles and had recently bagged his first deer with his Step-Dad. He was an amazing and moving guitar player.
Jeffrey was well liked by all who knew and met him, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Katherine Lord and her husband Roderic of Chesterville; his father, Jeffrey R. Pepin I, of Lewiston; siblings, Samantha, Angel, Michael, Brandon, Abby, Lexy, Katee and Jack, paternal grandparents, Paul and Diane Martin of Lewiston; and David and Marilyn Lord of Chesterville; aunts and uncles, Patrick Coburn, Albert and Nikki Pepin and David Pepin, Larry Lord and his wife Sandy, Matt Lord and wife Sandy, and Jeff Lord and Sharon, Samantha and Ron Lapointe and Lillian Ashton, many cousins, girlfriend Samantha Spencer, best friends Adam Oakes, Zack Black, Dominic Ellis, Shane and Desiree Brown, Terry Storer, and many more.

Frederick “Fred” W. Hardy
1930-2015
Fred Hardy passed away at MMC in Portland on July 4 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Waterville, Maine on Feb. 13th, 1930 to Joseph W. Hardy, Jr. and Clara “Mabel” (Hobbs) Noonan. He was educated in the schools of Farmington and Wilton, graduating from Wilton Academy, Class of 1948. He was raised on his grandfather’s farm on Perham Hill in Farmington and later moved to a small farm purchased by his father in East Wilton. He was also employed at the Smith farm in East Wilton all through high school.
He was married to Phyllis Chase of Dixfield from July of 1949 until she passed away in April of 2001. In 1960, they purchased a farm in New Sharon on the Perham Hill Road (now Weeks Mills Road), where they raised four children, Tamara, Earl, Lloyd, and Joyce.
In 1960, Fred was employed at Farmington Shoe Company as a production worker and five years later was promoted to foreman. He was employed there for 17 years while he and his family established a herd of registered Holsteins. In 1977 he left Farmington Shoe to manage his dairy farm full time. A lifetime goal had been achieved! Fred continued in the dairy industry until 1992 when he sold the cows to his eldest son, Earl. In August 2007 he married Ruby Tracy.
Fred had served, and was still active on many boards and committees. He was past President and the current Treasurer for the Maine Dairy Industry Association; a former Executive Board Member of the Franklin County Extension Association; a past President and Secretary of Franklin County Chapter of National Farmers of America; a past Secretary of Maine Milk Producers, Inc.; an Executive Member of the Maine Association of Conservation Districts and a member of the Board of Directors of Franklin County Farm Bureau.
In 1994 he was appointed by Governor McKernan to represent Maine on the Northeast Dairy Compact. In 1998 he was re-appointed by Governor King and served until the compact expired in 2001. In January of 2004, he was awarded the Commissioner’s Distinguished Service Award from the Maine Department of Agriculture Commissioner Robert Spear. At the time of his death he was also a board member of Northstar Ambulance and an Executive Board member of Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments (AVCOG).
His civil service included four years on the New Sharon Planning Board (Chair 1990); four years as Selectman/Assessor of New Sharon and four years representing New Sharon on the Franklin County Budget Committee. From 1992 until present, Fred served as District 2 Franklin County Commissioner. He was also a member of the Farmington Rotary Club at the time of his passing.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, a younger sister, Geneva, and his first wife, Phyllis. He was also predeceased by a brother, Gordon Fletcher, and sisters, Marjorie (Jean) Essman, and Ruth Hall. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby, children, Tammy Damren, Earl Hardy, Lloyd Hardy and his wife, April, and Joyce McCaslin and her husband, Michael; brothers, Clarence Hardy, William Hardy and wife, Lona, Douglas Fletcher, Rev. James Fletcher and wife, Paula, and sister, Barbara Linnell; grandchildren, Conrad Shaw, Jeremy Damren and partner, Thomas Stinson, Scott Damren and wife, Kate, Jennifer Hawkins and husband, David, Jessica Roberts and husband, David, Melissa Karkos and husband, Jon, Kimberly DiDonna and husband, Nicholas, Frederick L. Hardy, Amber McCaslin and partner Jordan McAdams, and Karen Badger and husband, Jamin; 12 great-grandchildren, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Fred’s extended family includes children Diana Bell and husband Michael, Doni Gaffar and husband Arthur, Deborah Tracy and husband Seth, Daryl Schramm & husband George, Scott Tracy and Bia, and Judy Tracy, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
We all will miss his sense of humor, and quick witted retorts as he was a master storyteller and truly loved to make people laugh. Fred enjoyed playing cards with friends, reading the newspaper from cover to cover, watching Red Sox and Patriots games.

Elizabeth “Jenny” Stoklas
1919-2015
Elizabeth “Jenny” Stoklas, 95, of Mexico passed away on Saturday, July 4, at her residence with loving family at her side, following a brief illness.
She was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada, on Oct. 9, 1919, a daughter of William J. and Mary Ann (Goodwin) MacDonald.
Jenny was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1936.
Prior to her marriage in 1941 to Joseph Stoklas, she was employed for several years at Diamond Match Co. in Dixfield.
Jenny was a devoted wife and mother.
She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Jenny loved knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, rug-braiding, playing cribbage, Pokeno and traveling.
She also loved her many trips to Prince Edward Island, visiting family and shopping in New York City.
Surviving are her children, Maryann E. Stoklas of Bath, Thomas M. Stoklas of Brunswick, and Paul J. Stoklas and husband, Dean Nadeau, of Portland; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Coulombe of Sabattus; brother-in-law, Louis Stoklas of Jay; three grandchildren, Lisa Abbott of Las Vegas, Nev., Lauri Gowell and fiancé, Steve Mallar, of Old Orchard Beach, and Shannon Grich of Roxbury; great-grandchildren, Megan Abbott, Patrick D. Abbott and Ryanne Bacon and husband, Devon; great-great-grandchildren, Paul Dylan and Sydney Catherine; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph Stoklas in 2012; three sons, James, John and Joseph Stoklas; a sister, Margaret Richard; and brothers, Harold McDonald and Wendell MacDonald.
