GRAY — Four professional chainsaw carver/artists will demonstrate chainsaw carving wildlife images from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Maine Wildlife Park on Route 26.
Ron Carlson is a professional chainsaw carver from China, Maine. He began woodcarving in the mid-1960s and enjoyed this highly rewarding hobby until the early 1990s, when a friend introduced him to the chainsaw. The speed and versatility of chainsaw cutting amazed him, and his lifelong hobby became his business in 1993.
Tim Pickett is from southern Maine, and has chainsaw carved the very popular bear, turtle and mountain lion at the Wildlife Park. Thousands of people have enjoyed these beautiful life-sized carvings and have had their photographs taken with them.
Dan Burns is from the Augusta area and specializes in carving bears and birds. He does free-standing carvings as well as stumps.
Andrew Logan’s visions for his chainsaw art comes easily to him as a descendant of generations of artistically talented people. His admiration and appreciation of nature’s beauty and all living creatures, domestic or wild, is the inspiration behind his carvings.
Besides providing demonstrations, the artists will have work sale.
