Grange holds weekly yard sale
WATERFORD — Waterford Grange No. 479 is hosting a craft and yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer on Route 35 near the North Waterford Post Office.
Items for sale will include handcrafted knit, crocheted and sewn items, decorations, books, toys, and more. Come outfit your camp or your college dorm room. Something for everyone! Items will change weekly.
Proceeds will enable us to support charitable organizations and make needed repairs to the historic building.
Daughters of Isabella announce summer social
RUMFORD — Daughters of Isabella, St. Timothy’s Circle 504, will host their July and August summer social barbecue at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the home of Janet Hooley, 13 Wilken Road, Worthley Pond.
The daughters are looking for members interested in making a dessert, salad or snacks. Committee members will be calling to confirm attendance. Members attending should bring a lawn chair. Carpooling is available.
The Daughters would like to congratulate the four 2015 Daughters of Isabella Scholarship recipients: Adele Oswell, Leah Perry, Corbin Arsenault and Brandon Gill.
The daughters are remembering a deceased member, Jean Arsenault.
Stephens High ’52 to meet
RUMFORD — Stephens High School Class of 1952 will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, for their monthly luncheon at Front Porch.
Further discussion of the upcoming class reunion will be a focus of the meeting.

Socrates Cafe to meet
WATERFORD — Socrates Cafe will meet Monday, Aug. 3, at the Waterford Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The topic will be What Characteristics Would You Choose For Mt. Rushmore’s Fifth President? The moderator will be Richard Balian.

Knitting Guild to meet
OXFORD — Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at First Congregational Church, East Main Street, to carpool to Eleanor Heidrich’s home on Route 26.
A knit-and-chat and show-and-tell program will take place.
New members are welcome to attend.
Participants should bring a salad, hot dish or dessert to share.

Bridgton Hospital thrift shop holding clearance
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, located on Main Street adjacent to Reny’s, is hosting its end-of-summer clearance sale beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Beginning Aug. 4, everything is half-price. Bags can be filled for $2 from Aug. 10 through Aug. 15.
The shop will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 17 and 18, to restock with fall merchandise.
The shop features clothes as well as housewares. The hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
‘Stupendous Science!’ in Mexico
MEXICO — As part of the “Terrific Tuesdays” summer program for kids, the Mexico Public Library is hosting a special program on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Calvin Lyons Hall, next door to the library.
Bitsy Ionta, scientist and educator also known as “Mr. I, the Science Guy,” will present a hands-on program of fun with science. The program is geared for kids ages 2 to 14.
