Organizers announce Carrabassett Valley Summer Festival
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Festival organizers have announced the 10th annual Carrabassett Valley Summer Festival will be held from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at KC’s Kreativity Center off Old Huse Mill Road.
The day will feature 18 artisans selling their crafts, face painting with Paula Norcott from 2 to 5 p.m., a display of children’s fairy houses, airplane and glider rides, radio control airplane demonstrations, disc golf demonstrations and horse-drawn cart rides with Kendrick Charles.
Musical performers will include Jason Mancini, The Steve’s and local recording artist Brian Goss.
There is no gate fee.

Land trust hosting gourmet hike
RUMFORD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust’s annual Whitecap Gourmet Hike will take place starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.
The hike will leave from the Whitecap parking area on the East Andover Road. Hikers are asked to bring water, hiking/rain gear and a gourmet dish of their choice for sharing with other hikers – “gourmet” meaning anything that’s an upgrade from PB&J.
Take Route 5 north from Route 2 for three miles. Turn right to cross the first bridge, then left onto East Andover Road. The parking lot is 200 yards on the left. FMI: 207-824-8980.
Pennacook art in Andover Olde Home Days
ANDOVER — Pennacook Art Center will hold an art show in the Children’s Room of the Andover Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.
The show features paintings, drawings and photographs by local professionals. The art is for sale.
Knitting group to meet at Oxford home
OXFORD — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, to car pool to the home of Eleanor Heidrich, Route 26.
Members are asked to bring a salad, hot dish or dessert to share. The pool will be open.

Book sale to benefit library
WILTON — A book sale will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8, to benefit the Wilton Free Public Library.
The sale will be held during Wilton’s Blueberry Festival from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, at Western Maine Development, 128 Weld St. People should use the driveway nearest nearest the Town Office.
