LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club has invited Daniel Buck Soules, art appraiser, auctioneer and broker, as guest speaker on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Soules, owner of Daniel Buck Auctions and Appraisals, grew up in his family’s antiques business in Western Massachusetts and has been involved in the appraisal and sale of American antiques and fine art for more than 40 years.

Soules has been an auctioneer since 1975 and is an internationally recognized appraiser of fine art and antiques. As such, he travels throughout the country conducting appraisal events and auctions for various groups and nonprofit organizations, including the Smithsonian Anacostia Museum.

His business and gallery, Daniel Buck Auctions and Appraisals, is located in Lisbon Falls, and he has remained an avid collector of fine art, antiques and Shaker furniture. For 11 years he appeared as an independent appraiser in decorative arts and collectibles on the PBS television program, “Antiques Roadshow.”

Soules has been accepted as a fine art expert by the Superior Court of Canada, and he travels the world assisting his clients with the identification, authentication and sale of their artwork and antiques.

The Rotary meets from noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Ramada Inn. Guests are welcome.
