FARMINGTON — The Farmington Historical Society will show the baseball memorabilia from Rogers Spear’s collection during Downtown Farmington’s First Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the North Church, 118 High St.

Spear will be present at the show to tell visitors about the history of Farmington baseball and Hippach Field.

The collection includes a uniform from the 1949 Farmington Flyers, which was sponsored by Farmington Coca-Cola, a mid-1950s maroon uniform worn by Rudy Stanzel, the championship jacket of the Down East League worn by ”Blackie” Norton and the Farmington High School uniform of a player named “Babe.”

The collection of photos and posters will be displayed on tables to show the early teams through the semi-pro Farmington Flyers, as well as Farmington’s town teams. Those who played Little League baseball in the ’50s and ’60s may find their team picture at the event.

The exhibit also will include the infamous Hard Cider League. That exhibit will include props such as the umpire convincer and, of course, a keg signed by the team members.

Refreshments will be served.
