Randall E. Porter

1954-2015

Randall E. Porter, 61, passed away at his home in Jay on July 22, 2015.

He was born on April 30, 1954 in Farmington, the son of Keith Porter and Aster Littlefield, and grandson of Earsel and Marion Porter. He graduated from Mt. Blue High School in the class of 1972. On April 19, 1975, he married Kathleen Carter at the Beans Corner Church in Jay.

As a teenager, Randy worked at local farms and at Osgoods where he worked on silos. Later on, he was employed at K& H Fosters, Cianbro Construction, DL Punch, and AV Construction. Over the years he was a member of the Chesterville and Pittsfield Fire Departments, and the Chesterville Grange.

Randy enjoyed tinkering in his garage, teaching his grandsons how to repair lawnmowers, hunting and fishing, racing on Sundays, and playing with his dog. On weekends in the summer, he loved going to his uncle’s camp.

He is survived by; his wife of 40 years, Kathleen Porter of Jay; his daughters, Susan Lemieux and husband Joe of Mt. Vernon, Stacy Couture and husband Keith of Farmington; his grandsons, Kyle and Trevor Couture of Farmington; his dog, Hersey; his mother, Aster Littlefield; his father in-law, Raymond Carter; his sisters, Dorian Jones, Lillian Mcbean, Debbie Bartlett, Bonnie Bor; his brothers, Everett Bartlett, Jimmy Littlefield, Benny Porter, Donald Bartlett, Ronnie Bartlett; his sister in-law Kristeen Merchant; his brother in-law Kenneth Carter; many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in Randy’s memory to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church, 547 Wilton Rd., Farmington at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Bracy officiating. A gathering will follow at the church. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the East Jay Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

Conrad G. “Toots” Tessier

1933-2015

Conrad G. “Toots” Tessier, 82, a longtime resident of North Turner, died Wednesday, July 22, at MaineGeneral Health in Augusta, following a brief stay at Maine Veterans’ Homes.

He was born in Livermore Falls, April 8, 1933, the son of Hector and Flora (Morrisette) Tessier. He attended Livermore Falls schools, where he played football and graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1952.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army overseas. After the war, he continued his service as a reservist and then as member of the Maine Guards.

After the war, he attended the University of Maine at Orono. He then relocated to California, where he worked and lived for a number of years.

From California, he became a Peace Corps volunteer, teaching English in Washington, D.C., and in Tehran, Iran. After returning to Maine, he taught at Jay and Livermore Falls High schools.

On June 22, 1968, he married Nancy Ann Melvin in Lewiston. They lived in North Turner for 45 years.

Conrad worked over three decades for local manufacturers in central and western Maine, retiring from Knapp Shoe in 1997.

He enjoyed spending time working on the old homestead in North Turner, attending to his plentiful vegetable gardens, and making home brew. Ice fishing, horned pout fishing, barbecuing and watching any sporting event were enjoyable pastimes.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy of North Turner; son, Anthony and his wife, Kendra, of Windham; daughter, Sarah Tessier-Roy and her husband, Brian, and Conrad’s granddaughters, Samantha and Gabby of North Turner; sister, Jacqueline Conzemius and her husband, Robert, of Ames, Iowa; sister-in-law, Leona McLain and her husband, Roland, of Auburn; brother-in-law, Daniel J. Melvin and his wife, Betty, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Paul, in 2003, Hervey in 2006, and Norman in 2012.

A beloved husband, dad, papa and brother, he will live on in our hearts forever.

The family would like to thank the kind caregivers from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice; private caregiver, Janet; Seniors-Plus; Catholic Charities and Victorian Villa Day Services, for supporting his quest to stay at home as long as possible. The family also thanks his final caregivers at Maine Veterans’ Home and MaineGeneral Health.

TESSIER — Conrad G. “Toots,” 82, of North Turner, died Wednesday, July 22, in Augusta. Graveside committal prayers followed by military honors will be held Friday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mount Hope Avenue, Lewiston.
