SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) – Police in Scottsdale have cited DMX for carrying a concealed handgun outside a nightclub.
Officers said they watched as the 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, took a gun from a holster and put it under the front seat of his 1964 Chevrolet convertible outside a club called Buzz last Friday night.
They issued Simmons a misdemeanor citation for not having a permit to conceal the weapon, Scottsdale police Detective Sam Bailey said.
Earlier this month, Simmons was cited for traffic violations by officers in White Plains, N.Y. Last month, he was arrested in London after allegedly refusing to put on a seat belt and becoming abusive on a flight from New York.
He served 70 days in jail last year for violating his parole following a 2004 incident in which he posed as an undercover federal agent and crashed his sport utility vehicle through a security gate at Kennedy International Airport.
A week after he pleaded guilty in that incident, New York State Police accused him of driving over 100 mph on Interstate 684 in North Castle, in Westchester County.
He was behind the 1999 hit single “Party Up (Up in Here).” His last album was “Grand Champ” in 2003, but he is working on another album, to be released this summer.

Eminem divorce proceeding held behind closed doors
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) – Eminem continued divorce proceedings with his wife, Kimberley Mathers, in a private hearing Thursday. Details of the meeting in Macomb County Circuit Court were not disclosed.
Mathers, who is seeking financial support, attorney fees and joint custody of the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott, was seen being escorted out of the building by a sheriff’s deputy.
Her lawyer, Michael J. Smith, declined to comment. A message seeking comment was left Thursday with Eminem’s attorney, Harvey Hauer.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, was not seen by reporters at the courthouse, but he was present for the hour-long meeting before Court Referee David Elias, court officer Mark Mileski said.
The 33-year-old Grammy-winning rapper filed for divorce April 5.
Eminem and Mathers were remarried in Rochester on Jan. 14, a month after the couple announced they were getting back together. Their first marriage was from 1999 to 2001.
Macomb County Circuit Judge Antonio Viviano, who was originally scheduled to preside over Thursday’s hearing, had set a deadline of Aug. 25 for completion of depositions, interrogatories, pension evaluations and other matters.
A settlement conference is scheduled for Sept. 19.
Eminem has won nine Grammys, including best rap album for “The Slim Shady LP,” “The Marshall Mathers LP” and “The Eminem Show.” He won an Oscar for the song “Lose Yourself” from “8 Mile,” the semi-autobiographical 2002 film in which he starred.
