PARIS — The Paris Fire Department will host the First Responders Touch-A-Truck from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Paris Fire Station.

Children — and the young at heart — would love a chance to touch and get an up-close look at fire trucks and police cars and perhaps even sit in one.

There will be many events and activities for the whole family:

• Demonstrations, including the “burn building” (also known as the “sprinkler room”), and a “car extrication.” The demonstrations will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

• Snacks will be available including hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream and cold drinks.

• Face painting for kids.

• Fire trucks, a police cruiser and a Paris highway truck will be on display for kids and adults see, sit in and check out.

• PACE will do blood pressure tests.

• The Paris Police Department will be there to fingerprint children and SAFE cards will be available. The cards contain a child’s name, biographical information (date of birth, gender, height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc.), and a fingerprint image of both index fingers. The card is made in less than two minutes and can be easily carried in a wallet or pocketbook. Interested parents can choose to store the fingerprints, basic biographical information and photographs of children who are not missing — information critical to expediting the return of a missing child.

This event is made possible by local folks who have donated items, money and time to for the good of the community.
