1948 – 2015

SABATTUS — Robert Ira Bornstein, 67, of Sabattus, died Saturday, Sept. 5, at Hospice House of Androscoggin, in Auburn.

He was born in Bangor on May 24, 1948, to Rudolph and Sarah (Lavoot) Bornstein. After graduating from Edward Little High School in 1966, Robert worked at the family business, Crystal Spring Water Company, until his retirement in 2000.

Robert enjoyed woodworking, birdwatching, caring for his pets, and spending time with his family. He took great pleasure in the simple things of life. He was a member of Fellowship Church in Greene.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Sarah Bornstein.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Manchester) Bornstein of Sabattus; daughter, Linda Ogburn and son-in-law Brandon Ogburn of Sabattus; brothers, Mark Bornstein of Litchfield, Richard Bornstein and sister-in-law Sue Bornstein of Turner, Peter Bornstein and sister-in-law Renee Cote of Auburn; sister, Julia Bornstein and brother-in-law Dan LaBonte of Plantation, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private service will be held at a later date.
