1922 – 2015

RUMFORD — Omer C. Pelletier, 93, of High Street in Rumford, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, at Rumford Community Home following a brief illness, with loving family at his side.

He was born in Rumford on July 16, 1922, a son of Joseph and Amelia Pelletier.

Omer was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephen’s High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a minesweeper and was stationed in Sicily.

He married Doris Richard on July 20, 1946, and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Omer was employed for over 40 years with Oxford Paper Company and worked part time for Puiia Lumber Co. for many years.

He served as a volunteer fireman for several years with the Rumford Fire Department.

Omer was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Jerry, and he also enjoyed snowmobiling.

He built his own boat and loved working on cars.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Doris (Richard) Pelletier of Rumford; a daughter, Janet Blaha and husband, Robert, of Rockwall, Texas; a son, Jerry Pelletier of Mexico; two grandchildren, Aaron Austin and Kimberly Strubel; and four great-grandchildren, Jack Strubel Cody Strubel, Sydney Austin and Julianna Austin.

He was predeceased by his parents.
