LIVERMORE — The Norlands Living History Center, 290 Norlands Road, will host a bean supper, games and storytelling from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, as part of its Saturday Night on the Farm.
Visitors can start at the farmer’s cottage for a bean supper with coleslaw, cornbread and nutmeg cake, and make their way to the Washburn Library to play Euchre, a card game enjoyed by the Washburns. Dominoes, cribbage, checkers, pick-up sticks and other games from the 1800s will also be played.
Parlor games will be offered at the Washburn family mansion, and the first floor of the mansion will be open for tours.
Mercy Lovejoy, a 19th-century pauper, will visit the Meeting House at 7 p.m. to tell visitors about the “strange happenings of Livermore.”
Lovejoy, portrayed by Willi Irish, Norlands director of interpretation and training, will share stories about cursed ponds and empty coffins – spooky yet humorous tales fitting for the upcoming Halloween season.
The cost of the event is $7 per person, or $3.50 for those 12 and younger.
