1942 – 2015

LEWISTON — Richard H. Lavoie of Lewiston passed away very peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 14, surrounded by his family, including his wife, Priscilla; his daughters, Lisa and Lynn; and his son, Rich.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1942, and lived a very joyful and blessed life. He married Priscilla, whom he called the love of his life, on June 1, 1963. Dick and Priscilla ventured away from their hometown early in their marriage, beginning a life together of exploring many different states around the country, as well as several countries overseas.

Shortly after retiring, they returned to their roots in Maine to be near family and dear friends. Their son, Rich, also lives in Lewiston with his wife, Tracey, and their three sons, Jacob, Logan and Devin. Rich and Tracey have been a constant and wonderful support to them. Dick’s daughter, Lynn, lives in Florida, but was able to be with her father for his last days, which was one of his dying wishes. Her son, Christopher, and his wife, Cynthia, and Dick’s great-granddaughter, Felicity, live with Dick and Priscilla. Chris and Cynthia have provided support and comfort, and Felicity was a daily source of joy for Dick. Lynn’s daughter, Brianna, lives in Georgia with Dick’s great-grandson, Blake. Dick’s oldest daughter, Lisa, lives in California with her husband, Tom, and their two daughters, Cori and Kailin. Fortunately, Lisa’s family spent vacation time with Dick just this past July, and even in spite of the distance apart, they all have many wonderful memories of time spent together over the years. Dick and Priscilla were so grateful that all three of their children could be with them at the end. Dick had a steady stream of visitors over the past six weeks, a testament to the wonderful, positive impact he had on everyone he knew. Dick’s family, Priscilla’s family and many friends came to support Dick and his family during his illness.

One of Dick’s greatest pleasures over the past six years was volunteering alongside Priscilla for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in Lewiston.

He is survived by his siblings, Paul and his wife, Sue, Linda and her husband, Paul, Elaine, Charles and his wife, Rhonda, Claude, Leonard Jr. and his wife, Ruth-Ann, Kathy and her husband, Mike, and Ann and her husband, Jim.

Dick was predeceased by his father, Leonard; mother, Rejane; and his brothers, Raymond and Maurice. His family and his friends will always cherish memories of his love and generosity toward everyone.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at CMMC, to the Dempsey Center and to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
