The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. and topics include General Assistance, the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council and Great Falls TV. Regular meeting at 7 p.m. and topics include the Growth Council, Community Development Block Grant funding, downtown revitalization and committee appointments.

WEDNESDAY, Sept. 23

AUBURN — Wings of Freedom Tour of WWII vintage planes, Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport, 80 Airport Dr. Rare chance to visit, explore and learn about aviation history. Visitors can explore the aircraft inside and out. Tickets $12 for adults, $6 for children.. Planes will land at 2 p.m. and be displayed until 5 p.m.

THURSDAY, Sept.24

AUBURN — Rally for passenger rail to come to Lewiston-Auburn, 5 to 8 p.m., Hilton Garden Inn. Speakers include Patricia Quinn of Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, rail advocate Peter Morelli.

AUBURN — “Rescued Recipes: From My Grandmother’s Trash Can” with food author Lisa Canino, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Auburn Public Library. Vintage and modern-day delights such as strawberry pudding, gingerbread, rosemary asiago gems that helped Canino fulfill a dream.

AUBURN — Out of This World Book Discussion, Auburn Public Library’s new science fiction/fantasy book club, 5:30-6:30 p.m. This month’s book: “The Martian” by Andy Weir, about an astronaut stranded on Mars.
