BETHEL — Maine School Administrative District 44 Continuing Education has announced upcoming courses.
College Transition Math: This 12-week course helps prepare students for the Accuplacer test and for college math. The limit is eight students. Lois Ruff will instruct the course, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Telstar High School Learning Center. Tuition is $60.
Quilting-Wave of Triangles: This class will teach students how to make triangles into two-colored squares. Instructor Donna Gillies will show students how easy it is to change the placement of triangles to achieve different looks. The finished pattern for the class will be a flag. Red, white, beige and blue fabric will be needed. Fabric can have patterns of any kind as long as the color is one of the four mentioned. A supply list will be furnished at the first class. A sewing machine is required, however, there will be a couple to share. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 30 to Nov. 4, at Telstar High School Adult Education Learning Lab, 284 Walkers Mills Road. The cost is $25 plus materials.
CPR Certification: CPR instruction will cover adult, child and infant CPR, obstructed airway, and will give a two-year certification. The class limit is six students and will be instructed by Jeannine Thornton. It will run from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 1 and 8, at the Bethel Family Health Center, 32 Railroad St. Tuition is $50.
Archery 101: This is an introductory archery course that will teach about eye dominance, proper bow handling, proper stance and aiming. Closed-toed shoes are required. The class size must be a minimum of five students and maximum of 15. Kayla Leveille will instruct the course from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 3, 17 and 24, in back of the Telstar High School gym. Tuition is $45.
Hunter Safety Firearms Class Study: This course will teach proper operation and use of equipment, maps and compass; first aid and survival laws; and landowner relations and ethics. Participants must be 10 or older, and children ages 10 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a home-study course. Materials will be handed out and explained at the other class. Student must attend all classes. The class limit is 25. The course will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. Tuition is $10.
