NEW VINEYARD — A Farmington teenager swerved his car to avoid a deer on Route 27 on Thursday night and struck a utility pole, according to police.
Logan Hader, 17, was driving a 2002 Subaru Forester south at 9:15 p.m. when a deer ran out in front of him and he swerved to miss it, according to Franklin County Deputy Matt Brann in a news release by Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
Hader said he overcorrected, went off the road and struck a utility pole before the car came to rest in a ditch, according to Brann’s report.
Hader was evaluated at the scene by NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel but did not receive any injuries, according to Brann.
The car was towed from the scene.
Cpl. Nathan Bean and New Vineyard Fire Department assisted at the scene. Central Maine Power repaired the utility pole.
