FARMINGTON — The Farmington Conference Center, 216 Whittier Road, will host a free men’s health seminar from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. Registration is at 5:45 p.m.

Upcountry Artists Gallery offering class
FARMINGTON — Upcountry Artists Gallery and Learning Center, 161 Main St., is offering a bookbinding class.
The class will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Friday; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
This is a beginner level class, no experience necessary. In this class, students will learn fundamental bookbinding techniques such as creating covers, folding, gluing and scoring techniques. At the end of class each student will leave with a unique finished accordion book for sketching, journaling, and more.
All materials will be provided.
The cost is $25 per person, with a maximum of 10 students. Those interested can preregister by visiting the gallery.

Christmastide Choir announces rehearsals
NORWAY — The 2015 Christmastide Choir will begin rehearsals at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Second Congregational Church, 205 Main St.
All voices from Oxford Hills are invited to join.
The choir will present an exuberant concert on the second weekend in December.
The choir is also looking for someone interested in playing English handbells.

Women’s care practice hosting party
FARMINGTON — Franklin Health Women’s Care is hosting a party 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in the Bass Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital to celebrate the birthdays of all children born there, the many women in the community the practice has cared for and the retirement of Dr. Connie Adler.
The party will have children’s activities, including face painting, bean bag toss, a fishing game, free coloring books and crayons, balloons, cake and ice cream and more.

Community home hosting food drive
RUMFORD — The Rumford Community Home will host its annual food drive to help replenish food in local food pantries.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, through Monday, Nov. 16, canned goods or nonperishable items can be dropped off to the activity department at the Rumford Community Home.
Those who bring in five items will have their name entered into a drawing to win either a gas gift card or a gift basket, which will be drawn on Nov. 16.
Last year the center was able to donate nine boxes of food, and they want to break the record this year.

RANGELEY — The Franklin County Retired Educators will reconvene for their first fall meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the Episcopal Church.
The featured speaker will be retired teacher and author Coval Conant discussing his books.
The usual delicious pot luck lunch prepared by the ladies of Rangeley will be $10. Annual dues of $10 will also be due at this time. There will be a book swap table.

Hospital hosting nontoxic housekeeping class
NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital and the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center will offer a class on nontoxic housekeeping from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building.
Laurie Cavanaugh, CPSP, G.E.A.R. parent support coordinator, will teach participants how to avoid using toxic chemicals while still providing a clean, healthy and comfortable home, how to save money and time with simple cleaning techniques and easy and inexpensive recipes to make safe, effective homemade household cleaners.

Decor must be removed from cemetery
MEXICO — Farrington Morton Cemetery Association requests all arrangements, artificial plant containers and any other decor be removed by Oct. 1 to make it possible for the sexton to prepare and clean the cemetery for winter.
