1948 – 2015

WALES — Patrick Cyril Vaillancourt passed away alongside his wife, Jeanine, in a motorcycle accident on Monday, Sept. 7.

He was born June 22, 1948, in Van Buren, the son of Gerard and Rosella Vaillancourt. Pat served his country as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. He worked at Bath Iron Works for 38 years as a brush painter and insulator and recently retired in November 2014. Pat was known for his strong work ethic and his fantastic sense of humor. He made a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be dearly missed by many.

Pat cherished his family and loved to laugh. Pat has always loved the outdoors and had a passion for golfing, camping, fishing, boating, motorcycle-riding and four-wheeling. He was often found outside working on his land or tinkering in his garage. Pat loved his Kubota tractor and would often take his grandchildren for rides on it.

In 1990, he helped design and build his own home, of which he was extremely proud.

Pat leaves his loving daughters, Jerri Lynn Vaillancourt of Mexico, Lisa Vaillancourt of Nobleboro, Christa Vaillancourt of Texas, and Christina Vaillancourt of Massachusetts. Pat also helped raise two stepdaughters from a previous marriage, Jennifer Sapiel and Patricia Varney, both of Lewiston. Pat leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his grandson/little buddy, Sebastian, with whom he spent a great deal of time.

He is survived by his father, Gerard Vaillancourt and his wife, Alice, of Lewiston; his brother, Michael and his wife, Katherine Vaillancourt, of Georgetown; his brother, Duane Lafolette and his companion, Deb Jordan, of Auburn; his brother, Roger Vaillancourt and his wife, Cathy, of Auburn; his sister, Sylvia Raymond and her companion, Dave Bosse Sr.; sister, Dean MacLaren of Lewiston; two stepbrothers, Bruce Ritchie and Brian Ritchie, both of Auburn; stepsisters, Cindy White and Pat Willis, both of Lewiston; and his sister-in-law, Roberta “Roy” Vaillancourt.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rosella Vaillancourt; and brother, Daniel Vaillancourt.
