Williams House to host First Saturday
WAYNE — The Williams House will host First Saturday at the Williams House from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at 14 Old Winthrop Road.
The ongoing book and boutique sale will be open. Coffee and tea will be available.
Rumford hosting fall carnival
RUMFORD — The Rumford Community Home will host a fall carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the main parking lot.
This event is open to the community.
Events will include a chicken/hamburger barbecue, cotton candy, a petting zoo, children’s games and an animal show by Mr. Drew from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
All activities are free, donations will be accepted. Donations will benefit the addition of a shaded sitting area to allow residents to enjoy the outdoors.

Bean supper planned in Jay
JAY — Public baked bean and casserole supper, with coleslaw, salads, meats, breads, desserts and beverages is set from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the North Jay Grange No. 10.
Music will be provided by Hal, Sara and Travis.
The meal is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.

Vietnam veterans chapter relocating
BIDDEFORD — Joe Armstrong, president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044, announces that the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044 will relocate their meeting place to the American Legion Post 26, located at 508 Elm St. (Route 1), Biddeford, effective Sunday, Oct. 4. Meetings will be held on the first Sunday of each month and start at 1:30 p.m.
Membership in Vietnam Veterans of America is open to U.S. armed force veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975.
Applications from non-veterans and family members and veterans who did not serve during the required time frame are being accepted for membership in Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America. An Associate of Vietnam Veterans of America membership is open to all non-veterans and family members.

Lithgow hosting college discussion
AUGUSTA — Lithgow Library will host Wendy Thompson of Westport Educational Consulting to present an informational session on the college admissions process from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The program will be held at the Ballard Center, 6 E. Chestnut St.
High school students and their parents are invited to an informative, interactive and entertaining presentation to help families understand the role essays, interviews, extracurricular activities, sports and other factors play in the admissions decisions colleges make.
The event is free and open to the public.
