1926 – 2015

LEWISTON — Theresa (Dennis) Obie, a very kind and loving lady who always put other people first, died late Saturday, Sept. 26, after a long illness.

She was born in Auburn on Feb. 26, 1926, to Laurent and Helen Martin Dennis, she attended Auburn schools. She was a lifelong communicant at Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Children of Mary. She cherished time spent with family and friends. Her thoughtfulness was evidenced by her baking talents during the holidays and her amazing memory of everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries. She loved arts and crafts and was very good at flower arrangements. She was especially partial to children and took care of many local kids for working moms. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her and share her great sense of humor and friendly personality.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roger, of 68 years; her children, Paul Obie and his wife, Sharon, of South Portland, Ronald Obie of Winthrop and Ann Busemeyer and her husband, Michael, of Cincinnati, Ohio; her sisters, Pauline Turcotte and her husband, Robert, Diane Helen Dennis; and a brother-in-law, Richard Morhauser. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Tamra Lambert and her husband, Greg, Brandon Obie and his wife, Kristiana, Justin Obie, Matthew, Katie and Ben Busemeyer; along with her great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Addison, Jaxon and Annabella; as well as her aunt, Gilda Dennis; goddaughter, Patricia (Dennis) Lavoie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Roland and Maurice Dennis and Jeannette (Dennis) Morhauser.

The family would like to thank the staff at d’Youville Pavilion for the care and love they shared with Theresa over the last 14 years and a special thanks to Claire and Lorrain during the last few days.
