FARMINGTON – Susan Black, register of deeds for Franklin County, told county commissioners Monday that she named Marlene Bradley of Industry as her deputy.

Bradley fills a position left vacant when former Deputy Register of Deeds Lisa Dalrymple died in August.

Bradley was formerly the secretary for the department.

Deborah Barrera of Farmington was also hired as the new secretary for the office. There were 17 applicants, Black said.

Commissioners also voted to approve a three-year contract with Mechanical Services Inc., which has several offices in Maine including Augusta, to provide services at the jail. The total cost is $18,090.

The cost will be $502.50 a month for 36 months.

“Personally I like the idea of two-, three-, four-year contract. You know what it is going to be and is easier to budget for year to year,” commission Chairman Gary McGrane of Jay said.

Commissioner Charles Webster of Farmington asked that someone approach the company to see if the county pays annually would there be a discount.

It will be checked.

Commissioners also approved a request for a bid proposals document to send to radio vendors for equipment and installation to provide radio over Internet protocol service to Strong, Phillips, Weld and Wilton. The proposal document outlines the specifications of the equipment needed and other matters.

Equipment will also be installed at the Franklin County Regional Communications Center as part of a multiphase plan to improve emergency radio communications in Franklin County.

There will be a prebid meeting at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the communications center. It is not mandatory. Bids are due by Oct. 16.

Bids will be sealed and be sent to Richard Davol of Communication Consulting Service Inc. in Gray. The county has contracted with Davol to oversee the project. Bids will be opened by county commissioners and reviewed by Wheeler and Davol to make sure specifications are met.
