TOPSHAM – Internationally acclaimed soprano Barbara Bonney will perform with the Oratorio Chorale, under the direction of Peter Frewen, at two concerts Feb. 17-18, in celebration of Mozart’s birth.
Bonney will perform Mozart’s joyous “Exsultate, Jubilate” and will be joined by the chorale, baritone Robert Honeysucker, tenor William Hite, contralto Sonia Sasseville, and the Maine Chamber Ensemble in Mozart’s majestic and moving “Requiem.”
The Chorale will round out the program with a selection of sacred choral works by Mozart.
Barbara Bonney, the most-recorded lyric soprano in the world, lived in Harpswell and graduated from Mount Ararat High School in Topsham. She has recorded more than 90 CDs, and her career takes her around the world.
The concerts will be presented at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, at the Orion Performing Arts Center in Topsham; and again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb.18, at the Cathedral of St. Luke in Portland. Tickets are $20 in advance, $24 at the door; students half-price; children under 12 free. Group rates are available.
