LEWISTON — The Lewiston Winter Farmers Market will open its doors Sunday, Oct. 18, almost a full month early for the 2015 season in response to customer and vendor interest.

The market will be open bimonthly on the first and third Sundays of each month through January from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center at 208 Bates St.

The market will feature a wide variety of Maine grown and produced goods including seasonal vegetables and fruits, quality beef, pork and lamb, milk, yogurt and cheese, baked goods, maple products, handmade soap and body products and cut flowers.

A rotating selection of vendors selling unique crafts and specialty foods will join throughout the season. The Winter Market will also feature its popular Market Café serving brunch and lunch specials for dining in or to go.

The Lewiston Farmers Market accepts credit cards, SNAP, formerly food stamps, and will be continuing its Fresh Food Champion program which rewards SNAP customers $1 in market dollars for every $2 spent in benefits up to $10 to purchase more fruits and vegetables.
