LEWISTON – Lewiston High School’s instrumental music department will present a winter concert, titled “Celebrations,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Lewiston Middle School.

The LHS Blue Devil Concert Band will play music composed by Beethoven, Bernard Herrmann and American wind composer W. Francis McBeth. The String Ensemble, under the direction of Greg Boardman, will play compositions by Bach, along with traditional Hebraic Klezmer music.

Two pieces – “The Dreydel Gallop” by band director Jim Alberty and a new piece for guitar duet by student composer Joshua Ward – will see world premieres.

The concert expresses a celebration of life (birth, death, joy and sadness) through events in life.

Physically, it is designed to be a total musical experience using the potential of the entire Middle School stage and auditorium.
