RUMFORD – Friends of Rumford Library will present “The Freshman,” starring Harold Lloyd, the comic genius who at one time reigned among Hollywood’s most popular and influential stars.

Free to the public, the film will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, in the public room of the library. Snow date is Jan. 20.

In “The Freshman,” Lloyd plays a starry-eyed, misguided college freshman ready to set the world aglow. Jobyna Ralston is the leading lady, and the Rose Bowl became the venue for the football scenes.

Lloyd’s inimitable physical comedy characteristically lights up the screen. First seen in 1925, “The Freshman” was honored for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1990.
