1917 – 2015

AUBURN — Georgette M. McCarthy, 98, of Auburn and formerly of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Hospice House with her family by her side.

She was born in Lisbon on March 6, 1917, a daughter of the late George and Delima (Dick) Lachance. She grew up in the area and attended local schools. At a young age, Georgette helped her family greatly by working and showing support anyway she could. On June 6, 1941, she married Antonio McCarthy at St. Anne’s Church in Lisbon and they started a family together. She loved spending quality time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching, cleaning, cooking and cross stitching.

Georgette is survived by her children, Robert McCarthy of South Portland, Clarie Kelly and her husband, Jim, of Lisbon Falls, Collette Ledlow and her husband, Lee, of Elliot, Theresa Laprise and her husband, Albie, of Lisbon Falls, Dee Dee King and her husband, Karl, of Lisbon Falls and Lynn Anderson and her husband, Dennis, of Cooper City, Fla. She also leaves behind a sister, Laurette Beaulieu of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Antonio; a daughter, Suzanne Carter;, her brothers, Paul Lachance and Maurice “Lefty” Lachance; and a sister, Annette Charest.
