1978 – 2015

RANGELEY — George F. Herbert, “Georgie”, 37, of Rangeley, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 30, at his home.

He was born Aug. 15, 1978, in Worcester, Mass., the son of George and Shirley (Stewart) Herbert. He received his education in Spencer, Mass., schools and earned his GED.

In his youth, he enjoyed playing soccer and riding dirt bikes. He especially enjoyed spending his summers in Rangeley, where his lifelong interest in fishing was born.

He held various jobs, mostly those involving construction, including ASI Constructors. For the last year, he worked at Quick Sled as assistant manager.

George made friends easily; he enjoyed working with the public and helping others. Favorite times were spent playing cards with family members, riding 4-wheelers and fishing.

He valued many relationships, such as the one he shared with his aunt, Betty Millbury, and his beloved nephew, Matthew Stout, with whom he spent many happy times fishing, bowling and riding go-karts.

He will be remembered as a kind soul who would help anyone in their time of need.

George is loved by his parents, George and Shirley Herbert of Rangeley; his sister, Jennifer Stout and her son, Matthew Stout, of Yorktown, Va.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and many friends.
