Interesting news has been received from Hiram Schoppe and Myron Robinson, two well known Auburn men, who are new at Cape Gracias, Nicaragua, Central America. Messrs. Schoppe and Robinson are in the employ of the George D. Emery Company, Chelsea, Mass. Mr. Emery is the mahogany king of the world and has mills in England as well as in this country. His very extensive business in mahogany requires the services of many special agents, whose business it is to find and procure mahogany for use in the Emery mills. It is in this capacity that Messrs. Schoppe and Robinson are acting.

There are numerous ways in which Maine apples can be utilized to add to the zest of the daily diet. Apple pie, of course, is a standby of many years, but there are less generally known recipes which offer delightful eating for the entire family.

Apple Crisp. Use 6 cups sliced apples; 1 cup all purpose flour; ½ cup brown sugar; 4 to 6 tablespoons fat. Place sliced apples in baking dish. Sprinkle mixture of fat, flour, and sugar, plus a little cinnamon, over the apples. Bake in a moderate (350° F) oven until apples are done. Serve warm or cold with milk or cream.

• Saying that Lewiston impressed them, because of its manpower pool and its proximity to the company’s major manufacturing operation, representatives of Blue Ribbon Sports said Wednesday they have definitely decided to locate a manufacturing operation in the city’s Pepperell Mill building.

BBS Inc., headquartered in Beaverton, Ore., is the 22-year-old manufacturer of the famous Nike running shoe and is the second-largest producer of athletic footwear in the world and the largest producer in the nation.
