SOUTH PARIS — Richard L. Sandstrom, age 85, of Lewiston, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, at the Maine Veteran’s Home in South Paris.

He was born in Trenton on Oct. 23, 1930, the son of Frederick L. and Delia (Nadeau) Sandstrom, and attended Cony High School.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and then served in the Army National Guard.

He married Mary DiMango on Feb. 1, 1957.

Richard worked at Knapp Shoe for several years before he and his wife moved to Connecticut. There, he worked at Pratt & Whitney before being employed by Stanadyne Diesel Systems, where he was a foreman. In 1984, they moved back to Maine, and Richard went to work at Dielectric in Raymond for six years, from where he retired.

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; two sons, Richard C. Sandstrom of Lewiston and Frederick R. Sandstrom and his wife, Yon, of Colorado; four grandsons, Bill Sandstrom of Hawaii, and Frederick, Shane and Richard Sandstrom.
