CHESTERVILLE — There was plenty of cheer during the annual Christmas party in Chesterville, sponsored by the Chesterville Extension Homemakers.

Children enjoyed decorating gingerbread cookies and making several different crafts. A reading of “The Polar Express” was offered while the children waited for Santa to arrive.

The fire truck siren announced Santa’s arrival as children flocked to the door. Santa and Mrs. Claus enjoyed listening to the children’s requests and handed out candy canes.

Also very popular was the gift table, where children could choose a free gift for their parents and grandparents to put under their trees. Then Santa’s elves wrapped the gifts for the children to take home.

Throughout the event, cookies, cupcakes, popcorn balls, cocoa and punch were available for everyone. The children also received baggies filled with popcorn and candy to take home.
