1918 – 2015

WEST PARIS — Blanche J. Szott, 97, formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on  Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris, where she had been a resident for the past several years.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 10, 1918, the daughter of Michael and Tekla Krason Szott. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1936, and also attended the Richard School of Gregg Shorthand. She was employed as a stenographer in the marketing and sales department of the Maine Central Railroad, subsequently Guilford Transportation Industries, Portland, for nearly 30 years. After her retirement, she returned to Lewiston in 1985. A member of the former St. Patrick’s Church.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Henry Szott, who passed away in 2013.

Blanche was always a very kind and generous person, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She will be greatly missed.
