1933 – 2015

AUBURN — Beverly E. Stevens, 82, a resident of Elm Street, Sabattus, died on Friday, Dec. 25, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Lisbon Falls on Sept. 8, 1933, the daughter of Charles Henry and Hattie Galler Earle. Beverly graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1951 and from Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion in 1952. She married Albert G. Stevens Jr. on Sept. 25, 1953, at the Greene Baptist Church; he passed away in February 2015.

Beverly worked in salons in Bath and Lewiston until her first child arrived. She became a fulltime homemaker and mom until all three girls were in junior high school. She then went to work at Zayre department store in Lewiston.

In her later years and right up until retirement, she provided childcare to a number of local families in their homes. She enjoyed gardening, vegetables and flowers, sewing and the Sabattus community. Beverly was a longtime member of the Community Baptist Church, serving on many committees over the years.

She is survived by three daughters, Marla Stevens of Lakewood, Colo., Margo Smith of Monmouth and Martha Frost of Falmouth; seven grandchildren, Jenna Overgaard and her husband, Aric, of Brunswick, Jake Muzzy of Denver, Colo., Brandon Smith and his wife, Becca, of Lewiston, Troy Frost and his fiancée, Lindsay Keyes, of Eliot, Brady Frost of Portland, Jared Smith of Monmouth and Lindsey Smith of Monmouth; and two great-grandsons, Owen and Ethan Overgaard of Brunswick.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert G. Stevens Jr.; her sister, Arlene Earle; and her brother, Arnold B. Earle.
