BETHEL — School Administrative District 44 Adult Education has announced its community education programming.
Some of the courses include:
First Aid/CPR: Jeannine Thornton teaches these classes at the Bethel Family Health Center. CPR includes: adult, child and infant CPR; obstructed airway. First Aid includes: burns, controlling bleeding, broken bones, poisoning, soft tissue injuries, heat and cold exposure and bandaging. Participants will receive a two-year certificate in First Aid and a one-year certificate in CPR. Limit is 10 students. Class is Thursday, Jan. 14 and 21, 6 to 10 p.m. Tuition is $55.
CPR Certification: This class will teach adult, child and infant CPR, and obstructed airway, leading to a two-year certificate. Limit is six students. The instructor is Jeannie Thornton; Thursday, Feb. 4 and 11, 6 to 9 p.m., Bethel Family Health Center. Tuition is $55.
CPR Re-certification: This class will include adult, child and infant CPR and obstructed airway. You must bring your current certificate. Two-year certificate. Limit is 6 students. Instructor is Jeannine Thornton; Thursday, Feb. 25, 6 to 9 p.m., Bethel Family Health Center. Tuition is $45.
Introduction to Self-employment: This one-session workshop will help participants decide if self-employment is the right choice. The class covers entrepreneurship, the pros and cons of owning a business, ways to manage risk, the major elements of a business plan, the important financial pieces, the important steps needed for a start-up and the many resources available to help you succeed. Instructor is Karleen Andrews of New Ventures Maine; Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1 to 3 p.m., Telstar High School.
Understanding Health Care Vocabulary: This is an introductory course in medical terminology for anyone who would like to better understand what medical professionals are saying. The class will cover terminology, common problems, and how to find accurate information on the internet. Instructor is Haley Tripp; Wednesday, Jan. 20, 10 a.m. to noon, Telstar High School. Tuition is $30; $25 for seniors 65 and older.
