Berry inducted into Society of Leadership
BURLINGTON, Vt. — Sarah Berry of Topsham was inducted into the Champlain College chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success on Dec. 11.
The event took place in the Champlain Room on Champlain College’s campus in Burlington and was the first-ever induction of the school’s chapter. A total of 74 student leaders participated.
The National Society for Leadership and Success, also known as Sigma Alpha Pi, is a leadership honor society for student leaders that operates chapters at different universities around the country. Invitation to the Society is exclusive, based on nominations from campus faculty, academic achievement and leadership potential. Students are also given access to leadership certification and scholarship opportunities through the organization.
Greene resident receives scholarship
PHILADELPHIA — Emily Jacobs, DO, Class of 2016, of Greene, a fourth-year medical student at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, has received the Daniel J. Smith, DO 1973, Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Dan Smith by his wife, Teresa Doyle Smith, in 2011.
Jacobs earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Middlebury College in 2009. She is the daughter of Stephen Jacobs and Ethel Bowden of Greene.
BJU students named to President’s List
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Local students are among approximately 480 Bob Jones University students named to the President’s List for high academic achievement during the fall 2015 semester. To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
The students are: Ashley McNally, a senior science education major from Raymond; Matthew Parker, a sophomore information technology major from Jay; Kathryn Smith, a sophomore communication disorders major from Litchfield; and Brian Hand, a junior engineering major from Farmington.
Greene resident named to dean’s list
FRANKLIN, Mass. — Brandi Lavigne of Greene has been named to the dean’s list at Dean College for the fall 2015 semester.
