PARIS — Senior point guard Ethan Dorman recorded 25 points as Bangor bounced back from third quarter trouble to secure a 68-59 upset of Oxford Hills in Class AA boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Rams (4-11) held a 10-point lead at the half. George Payne and Justin Smith contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively for Bangor.

Dorman made 10-of-13 points from the foul line in the fourth quarter to push Bangor to the finish line.

Senior forward Andrew Fleming notched a double-double with an impressive game-high 34 points and 14 rebounds for the Vikings (11-4).

Spruce Mountain 40, Mt. View 38

JAY — Junior guard Noah Preble netted a game-high 15 points as Spruce Mountain grabbed a 40-38 victory from Mt. View in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Phoenix (7-7) led 22-20 at the midpoint and held Mt. View to two points in the third quarter.

Junior forward Devon Davis provided 14 points for the Mustangs.

Poland 40, Freeport 34

POLAND — John Fossett poured in 17 points, pulled down 19 rebounds and stole the ball 10 times for a triple double to lead Poland boys’ basketball to a 40-34 victory over Freeport Tuesday. 

The Knights (7-8) built a four-point lead in the first half before using a 12-8 run in the third to widen the gap. Freeport (2-13) was paced by Jack Davenport with 14 points.

Pine Tree 44, Rangeley 43

AUBURN — Jalen Tamalea hit a jump shot with three minutes left in regulation to give Pine Tree Academy a narrow 44-43 win over Rangeley on Tuesday evening. 

JP Tshmala led Pine Tree with 15 points, while Tamalea finished with 11. 

The Lakers (5-10) were paced by Kyle LaRochelle and Ricky Thompson with 12 points each, while Zack Trafton chipped in eight. 

Girls’ basketball

Rangeley 52, Pine Tree 35

AUBURN — After a slow start to the game, Rangeley found its footing in the second half against Pine Tree Academy and raced away with a 52-35 win in a neutral-site game at Central Maine Community College on Tuesday.

Blayke Morin, who finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds and three steals, ignited a 14-6 run in the third quarter that allowed the Lakers to break open a tight game.

Sydney Royce chipped in with eight points, while Natasha Haley added seven points and dished off six assists for the Lakers (14-1).

Alexandra Goodman led Pine Tree (9-7) with 20 points, while Adrianna DePalma added eight for the Breakers, who raced out to an early 7-1 lead before Rangeley found its offensive rhythm. Still, Pine Tree kept things close through the first half thanks to a handful of 3-pointers. 

Mountain Valley 59, Telstar 19

BETHEL — After sprinting out to a 13-point advantage in the first quarter, Mountain Valley kept it in high gear and raced away to post a 59-19 rout over Telstar in MVC girls’ action Tuesday. 

Sydney Petrie led the Falcons (14-1) with 17 points, while Liza White talled 12 and Emily Laubauskas added 10. 

The winless Rebels (0-15) were paced by Becca Howard with 12.

Spruce Mountain 26, Mt. View 24

THORNDIKE — Alex Bessey scored seven points and Hanna St. Pierre and Emily Hogan added six points each Tuesday night, leading Spruce Mountain to a 26-24 double-overtime girls’ basketball victory over Mt. View.

The Phoenix improved to 5-9 with their second consecutive win. Jenni Nadeau led all scorers with 11 for Mt. View (5-9).

Gray-New Gloucester 42, Yarmouth 32

YARMOUTH — Junior center Skye Conley scored 10 points and hauled down eight rebounds as Gray-New Gloucester battled to a 42-32 victory over Yarmouth in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Patriots (11-4) scored six unanswered points just before the close of the half for a 24-18 lead. Brianna Jordan contributed eight points on three field goals, including a pair from three-point range for Gray-New Gloucester.

Junior guard Cory Langenbach led the Clippers (7-8) with 10 points.

Monmouth 39, Hall-Dale 37

FARMINGDALE — Monmouth executed a fourth quarter 10-0 run for a come-from-behind 39-37 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

Haley West and Sidney Wilson contributed nine points each in a balanced offensive effort by the Mustangs (13-2). Monmouth rallied from a seven-point deficit.

Senior guard Dani Sweet netted a game-high 14 points, while Thea Sweet hauled down 10 rebounds to go along with her seven points for the Bulldogs (6-9).

St. Dom’s 49, Mt. Abram 46

AUBURN — Allie Veinote drained a team-high 18 points as St. Dom’s edged Mt. Abram, 49-46, in MVC girls’ basketball Tuesday evening.

The Saints (7-8) improved their margin by seven points in a pivotal third quarter. Chloe Dwinell contributed 15 points for St. Dom’s.

Mt. Abram picked up the tempo in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to pull the upset. Summer Ross compiled a game-high 19 points for the Roadrunners (4-11).

Freeport 45, Poland 40

FREEPORT — Sophomore point guard Nathalie Theriault tabulated a game-high 23 points for Poland, but the Knights fell to Freeport, 45-40, girls’ basketball Tuesday evening.

In a back-and-forth game, the Knights (6-9) led 35-34 with 1:30 left in regulation. The Falcons (9-6) went on a 6-0 run to surge ahead and hold on for the win.

Forward Regan Lynch tossed in a team-high 12 points for Freeport.
