WALES — Senior forward Grace Sabine netted a game-high 15 points as Oak Hill rallied late for a 42-35 victory over Mt. Abram in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening, lifting the Raiders into a playoff spot.

Freshman Summer Ross scored a team-high 12 points for the Roadrunners (5-13), while junior Marya Beedy tossed three three-pointers and a free throw for 10 points for Mt. Abram.

Bri Mulherin contributed 13 points, including a three-pointer late in the game, to continue the momentum for the Raiders (8-10) down the stretch.

Gray-New Gloucester 51, Poland 23

GRAY — Junior shooting guard Alicia Dumont recorded a game-high 14 points in a balanced attack as Gray-New Gloucester dispatched Poland 51-23 in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Patriots (14-4) jumped out to a 26-10 halftime lead. Skye Conley contributed 12 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

The Knights (7-11) scored their most points with nine in the fourth quarter. Sophomore point guard Natalie Theriault tossed a team-high 11 points for Poland in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 44, Lisbon 36

LISBON — Junior forward Chloe Dwinell poured in 19 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 44-36 victory over Lisbon in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Saints (9-9) stepped up their offensive game in the second half, expanding their lead by five points in the final frame. Abby Castonguay contributed 10 points for for St. Dom’s.

Senior guard Bree Sautter posted five field goals, including three from 3-point range, for the Greyhounds (7-10) in the losing effort.

Bangor 52, Lewiston 34

BANGOR — Senior forward Jenna Bishop submitted a game-high 17 points to lift Bangor to a 52-34 victory over Lewiston in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

Though the game remained close in the first half, the Rams (10-8) ramped it up in the third quarter with an 18-6 run. Emily Gilmore contributed 11 points for Bangor.

Junior guard Morgan Eliasen tallied a team-leading 10 points for the Blue Devils (9-9) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 49, Islesboro 11

AUGUSTA — Rangeley used a 22-4 run in the second quarter to take command before coasting to an easy 49-11 win over Islesboro in a EWC girls’ basketball regular season finale Thursday. 

Blayke Morin led the Lakers (17-1) with 10 points, five rebounds and five steals. Natasha Haley chipped in with 10 points, while Sydney Royce added eight.

Emily Lau led Islesboro with five points, while Kayla Pendleton added four.  

Oxford Hills 50, Leavitt 25

PARIS — After trailing by four points in the first frame, Oxford Hills went on a 19-2 tear in the second and pulled steadily away to record a 50-25 victory over Leavitt on Thursday. 

Erin Morton led the Vikings (15-3) with 18 points, while Tianna Sugars tallied nine and Allyssa Hanley added eight. 

The Hornets (9-9) were paced by Sophia Gilbert with a solid 15-point effort, their only player to reach double figures. 

Edward Little 67, Mt. Ararat 35

AUBURN — After jumping out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter, Edward Little kept the offense in high gear and sped away to post a 67-35 season-finale win over Mt. Ararat on Thusday. 

Emily Jacques led the Red Eddies (14-4) with 20 points, while Karli Stubbs chipped in with 16. 

Lauren Sturgess led the Eagles (1-17) with nine points, while Nicki Bradstreet added eight. 

Hall-Dale 60, Dirigo 53

FARMINGDALE — Hall-Dale nailed 12 of 16 shots from the foul line in the fourth quarter to earn a 60-53 victory over Dirigo in a regular-season finale Thursday. 

Dani Sweet led the ferocious Bulldogs (7-11) with 21 points, while Thea Sweet added 11 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and made seven assists. 

The Cougars (12-6) were paced by Lauren Henderson with 18 points, while Sabrina Daoud tallied 16 and Emma Lueders added 11. 

Spruce Mountain 45, MCI 29

JAY — Alex Bessey poured 19 points into the net Thursday as Spruce Mountain capped its 2016 girls’ basketball campaign with a 45-29 win over MCI. 

Rylee Moore chipped in for the Phoenix (7-11) with nine points, while Hanna St. Pierre added eight.

Rachel McAlpine led MCI (6-12) with 11 points, their only player to reach double figures.  

Nokomis 53, Mt. Blue 40

NEWPORT — Olivia Brown netted 22 points Thursday to propel Nokomis to a 53-40 victory over Mt. Blue in more girls’ basketball action. 

Chelsea Crockett chipped in for Nokomis with 15 points, while Sidney Moore added 11. 

The Cougars (9-9) were paced by Caitlin Kane with a game-high 27 points, their only player in double figures. 

Boys’ basketball

Mountain Valley 55, Carrabec 44

RUMFORD — Keegan Davis led a trio of players in double figures Thursday as Mountain Valley capped its 2016 season with a 55-44 win over MVC rival Carrabec.

Davis finished with 18 points to lead the Cougars (5-13), while Curtis Steele tallied 17 and Ryley Flynn added 15.

The Cobras (5-13) were paced by Dustin Crawford with a fine 16-point effort, while Dylan Willette chipped in with 10 points.

Oxford Hills 63, Leavitt 56

PARIS —Andrew Fleming finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds as Oxford Hills Vikings defeated the Leavitt Hornets 63-56 in a KVAC boys’ basketball contest.

He finished the regular season with 493 points which is a school record.

Chris St. Pierre had a big for the Vikings (14-4) as he hit five 3-pointers for a total of 19 points.

Levi Craig paced the Hornets (2-16) with 16 points while Nathaniel Goulette had 14 and Max Green had 10 points.

Nokomis 69, Mt. Blue 63

FARMINGTON — Brad Allen threw in 25 points and Josh Smestad added 18 as Nokomis beat Mt. Blue 69-63 in a season-finale boys’ basketball game Thursday.

The Cougars (3-15) took a 28-26 lead at the half, but Nokomis came right back at Mt. Blue.

Zach Hartsgrove scored 15 points for Nokomis. Zack Mittlestadt scored the game-high 29 points for the Cougars and Evan Backus helped out with his 18 points.

Oak Hill 62, Mt. Abram 28

WALES — Senior guard Dalton Therrien posted a game-high 17 points to lead Oak Hill to a 62-28 triumph over Mt. Abram in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Raiders (6-12) steamed ahead with a 12-2 run in the second quarter for a 23-13 halftime lead. Marcus Bailey contributed 10 points for Oak Hill.

The Roadrunners (3-15) could not get any traction in the second half as Oak Hill continued on a 21-6 roll in the third quarter and added another nine in the final frame.

Senior guard Luke Romanoski netted a team-high 10 points for Mt. Abram in the losing effort.

Lewiston 54, Bangor 43

LEWISTON — Senior guard Abdinasir Isaack pounded out 23 points to lead Lewiston to a 54-43 victory over Bangor in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

Isaack hit two three-pointers just before the half to put the Blue Devils (3-15) up 30-21 at the half. Salat Hussein contributed 18 points for Lewiston.

Senior guard Ethan Dorman posted a team-leading 11 points for the Rams (5-13) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 45, Isleboro 39

FAIRFIELD — Sophomore guard Kyle LaRochelle drained a game-high 17 points to lead Rangeley to a 45-39 victory over Isleboro in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Lakers (7-11) battled to a 20-18 halftime lead. Sophomore guard Zack Trafton contributed 10 points, while Ricky Thompson hauled down 10 rebounds for Rangeley.

LaRochelle connected for three field goals from 3-point range in the fourth quarter to keep Rangeley above the float line.

Seniro guard Forrest Boucher recorded a team-high 16 points for the Eagles (11-6) in the losing effort.

Poland 60, Gray-New Gloucester 54

GRAY — John Fossett buried 23 points to power Poland to a 60-54 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Knights came charging back in the fourth quarter with a 23-11 run. Pat Kuklinski contributed 11 points for Poland.

Zack Haskell led three players in double digits with 21 points for the Patriots. Kyle Keenan provided 16 points for Gray-New Gloucester in the losing effort.

Spruce Mountain 52, MCI 40

PITTSFIELD — Junior guard Noah Preble collected 18 points to lead Spruce Mountain to a 52-40 victory over Maine Central Institute in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Phoenix tapped into their energy reserves with a 16-10 margin in the fourth quarer. Austin Darling contributed 14 points for Spruce Mountain.

Junior guard Treston Grier tossed a team-high 16 points for the Huskies in the losing effort.

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 3, South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete 3

PORTLAND — A late third period goal by Noah Austin secured a 3-3 tie for the Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse Eagles over the South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete Red Riots Thursday night at Troubh Ice Arena on Thursday night.

Jason Magno and Cam Grant also potted goals for the Eagles (7-5-1).

Cam Gillies had a pair of goals for the Red Riots (4-8-2) while Caleb Rowland also scored.

Unified basketball

Lisbon 47, Poland 21

POLAND — Brock Vachon poured 15 points into the net Thursday to lead Lisbon to a 47-21 victory over Poland in a Unified basketball tilt. 

Wesley Lucas chipped in for Lisbon with 12 points, while Jake Patenaude added 10. Amanda Mason, Brandon Bartlett and Dawson Martel all played well on the defensive side. 

Devin Yeaton led Poland with six points, while Ashlie Portraz tallied five and David Ellington added four. Brandon Bearor and Austin Wing also contributed with a strong defensive effort.
