Burlington, Vt. – Reports received here from all sections of Vermont indicate that the worst water famine in the history of the State is being experienced at the present time. The prolonged and intensely cold weather has caused all the small streams to freeze all the way from the surface to the bed, and the exceptionally light snow fall during the winter has afforded no protection from the frost, which has penetrated deep into the ground and resulted in the freezing of wells.

An amendment to the lease involving the S. S. Kresge Co. on Lisbon St., has provided additional land at the rear of the building in a step to enlarge the store. The lease has been filed at the Androscoggin Registry of Deeds office. The store plans to extend the building into the alley and onto Park Street.

Principal John Biscoe confirmed last night that 52 students at Leavitt Area High School have been placed under 10 day suspension “for disrupting the education process”. The administrative action came following a student demonstration Friday that began with “about 250” students meeting in the gym to protest inadequate toilet facilities.
