White to speak at Sunday service

PARIS — The Sunday, Feb. 21, worship service at the First Universalist Church, Pine Street, will be led by Anita White. The title of the 10 a.m. sermon is “And the Greatest of These is Love.”

Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service.

Childcare is available and the First Universalist Church is wheelchair accessible. The First Universalist Church welcomes and celebrates all beliefs.

Coping with cancer at Lifetree Café

LEWISTON — Practical tips for helping loved ones cope with cancer will be discussed at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Lifetree Café, 1919 Lisbon Road.

The program, titled “Loving Those with Cancer: How to Cope, Care and Give Hope,” will feature filmed interviews with a cancer caregiver and a cancer patient who share insights they’ve learned while dealing with the disease.

“We pray for everyone who comes through our doors,” said Frida Probasco, owner of a wig shop that often provides services to cancer patients. “We don’t just put wigs on their heads and send them on their way. We actually listen to them, and we let them know we care for them.”

During the episode, Lifetree participants will also be given an opportunity to share stories of how cancer has impacted their lives or the lives of those closest to them.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free.
